Before posting and selling your tickets make good use of these 7 Tips and Suggestions for how to sell your tickets using online classifieds:

The First Tip : Research the going price or  rate of the tickets: Before you price your tickets learn the going rate. Determine what you value most or the goal in selling the tickets. Do you want to make your money back ASAP? Or, is your goal to make a sizable profit? If your priority is to sell your concert seats for a profit- take the following steps:
  • Do your homework and find out how the concert or sporting event is selling.  Is the concert almost sold out?
  • Investigate which tickets people are buying
  • Are tickets selling fast at similar venues
  • Price objectively based on your findings, use Seatgeek to confirm the market trends
  • Apply what you learn, practical experience: Jay-Z sold out the lower level of Madison Square Garden, in NYC in a day. In contrast, it took longer for the Jay-Z  lower levels tickets to sell out in Detroit or Boston.
  1. If you have great seats, price competitively and be prepared to wait until the “right buyer”, the person willing to pay your asking price, arrives.
  2. Establish a drop dead date, the day to you want/have to sell the tickets. Planning your exit strategy in advance and knowing your base selling price will help in your negotiations.
  3. Watch the market. The  event ticket prices can vary greatly in the period between the pre-sale and the day of the event. Example: The Kiss Concerts tickets spiraled downward just weeks before the concert . Keep in mind that roughly 40% of tickets to events do not sell. To counter this trend of leaving tickets and money on the table, start-ups like Qcue are providing dynamic pricing platforms that allow ticket promoters to better understand the market and how to price tickets accordingly. The Eagles used dynamic pricing for one of their concerts.
  4. Time your ticket sales: Sell your tickets at least 2-3 weeks before the event or  Sell within the first 2 weeks after the on sale
  5. The Ticket Buyer-When someone offers to buy your tickets, follow-up and complete the transaction within 24-36 hours. Don’t hold the tickets.
  6. Closing the deal: Ship the event tickets or meet your buyer in a public place like a Starbucks or any place where they have security cameras
  7. Check the state laws around the resell of tickets
